New Beadies!!

I've been on a ring thing lately. I love this Southwest combo and the beautiful colors that the glass manufacturers have come out with in the last year.

Just posted the last of the Mismatch sets to my Etsy shop.

Now that the first snows have fallen I have some time to post these pics taken about a month ago. We hiked up above Heenan Lake about 40 minutes from here and visited the Aspen groves where Basque sheepherders spent their summers beginning more than 100 years ago.

This is one of the two trees with carvings we found still standing in the grove. Sadly the trees with the carvings are dying off. This tree is standing dead.

 

This is the second and also standing dead. You can see the crack in the bark. As soon as the tree falls it will loose it's bark and the Basque artwork will be lost forever.

There are many wonderful sites on the web for you to see better examples of Basque Arborglyphs.

A few new items in the store...

Some pretty lavender beads since Fall seems to be behind us here in the mountains.

Rustic Gears in green and gray. A bit of a departure from the warm Fall colors that I've been loving these past couple of weeks.

Vacation pics and some glassy goodness:

 Always on the lookout for the unusual, we stayed at a B&B that was converted from an old hospital. Our room was on the top floor facing the ocean with out own private little porch.

One of the residents in the sun on the second floor landing. You'll notice the lack of stairs. I'm glad we hike a lot at home since this ramp is very steep!

 Just a few new beads.

Nothing new in the glass shop but this is new in my vintage shop (check below on the left side).

Something new - "Saucers".

Lots of mixed spacers in my shop. I have used many of the odd lot colors that are now unavailable like Petrified Wood, Tequila Sunrise, River Rock and more.

 I love the way these turned out!

New beads for today:

I haven't made big circles in a while. Rustic and elegant at the same time.

We are taking a few days off and hittin' the road. We will be heading south on the 395 and will make our first stop at Rock Creek Lakes Resort for an early lunch and then our traditional hike around the lake. A slice of the best pie in the world will top off our visit.

We will then head south to Bishop where we will spend the night after an evening of fishing here

Our meals will be at the Whiskey Creek Restaurant and venues to be announced.

Saturday morning we will troll for trout on Rock Creek Lake and the afternoon will be for antique store browsing (hubby doesn't know this yet). We will head home late Sunday after more fishing and a short hike.
